Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday appointed Dr Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison as the new Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
The appointment comes three days after the resignation of the previous Governor Dr Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku which will take effect on April 1, 2017.
“In order not to have a vacuum at the top of such an important state institution, the President … has appointed Dr Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison as the new Governor of the Bank of Ghana,” said a statement from the presidency.
Dr Addison was until his appointment the Lead Regional Economist of the African Development Bank at its Southern African resource Centre.
He previously served at the central bank as the head of research and also at the West African Monetary Institute as Chief Economist.
Dr Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison holds a doctorate degree in Economics from McGill University in Canada.
